Ronda Rousey’s Book Will Not Be Displayed In Walmart

As pointed out in the past, Ronda Rousey has been a busy woman since her last fight against Cat Zingano. Rousey was in last week’s Furious 7 and also appears in this summer’s Entourage. On top of this, she is releasing her first memoir, My Fight/Your Fight. So needless to say, she has been everywhere promoting these things.

And the latter is where the controversy begins, as over the last week there has been reports that Walmart refused to carry Rousey’s book. The alleged reason was that her lifestyle was too violent and they did not want to condone it. Well it appears this is not the whole truth, as TMZ Sports talked to Walmart’s spokesperson Danit Marquardt to set the record straight.

“Walmart has been anticipating Ronda’s book release since last September, and you can already pre-order it on the company’s website,” TMZ Sports wrote. “However, she did confirm the book will not be on display in Walmart stores. You can pick it up in the store if you order it online.”

As for the reasons behind this decision, “Marquardt wouldn’t comment on the “too violent” report, but said “a variety of factors” played into the decision to only offer it online.”

“I’m shocked, shocked to discover that censorship is going on in America,” Rousey’s publisher Judith Regan told the New York Post.

Either way, My Fight/Your Fight hits shelves on May 12.
