Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has signed a contract extension committing him to the Bundesliga champions until 2021, the club has announced.

The 28-year-old Polish national team captain joined on a free transfer from Bayern’s rival Borussia Dortmund in 2014. Since then, he has added two more German league titles to the pair he secured at the Westfalenstadion.

Lewandowski moved to 11 goals for the season with his brace in a 5-0 victory over Wolfsburg on Saturday.

He was the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 30 goals, and has now scored 58 times in 77 league games for the German champions.

Lewandowski said in a post on his official Twitter account: “This club gives me all i need to make my dreams come true! New challenges ahead of us! MiaSanMia!”

The Polish international had been strongly tied to a Real Madrid move in recent months after one of the forward’s agents told Der Spiegel that talks with the Spanish club had been held.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, though, said in May that Lewandowsi was not for sale at any price, and in October he stated discussions over an extension were progressing well.

Uli Hoeness, who has recently been re-elected as club president, also said this week that Lewandowski had been offered high-paying new terms.

Lewandowski also mocked the Ballon d’Or– the top individual prize given in world soccer– after Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo won the award while he finished 16th in voting.

Chile’s Arturo Vidal, joint 14th, was the highest-ranked Bayern player in Ballon d’Or voting.
