Between winning the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots and having one of the best comeback seasons on record, Rob Gronkowski had a big year. Now, he also is preparing for the release of his autobiography, It’s Good to be Gronk.

And one of the most interesting aspects of It’s Good to be Gronk is when he talks about money. The news and the tabloids have always covered Gronk’s excessive partying, leaving many to assume that he is blowing his cash. However, this is reportedly far from the truth, as Monday Morning Quarterback’s Peter King posted some excerpts from Gronkowski’s upcoming book.

“To this day, I still haven’t touched one dime of my signing bonus or NFL contract money,” Gronk wrote. “I live off my marketing money and haven’t blown it on any big-money expensive cars, expensive jewelry or tattoos and still wear my favorite pair of jeans from high school.”

Out of the draft, Gronkowski signed a 4-year deal worth $4.44 million with a $1.11 million signing bonus. But just two years into that contract, he signed a massive six-year extension worth $54 million with an $8 million signing bonus. So according to that excerpt, all of that money is saved for his retirement.

As for his supposed marketing money, it comes from Dunkin’ Donuts and BODYARMOR SuperDrink.

Now, while MMQB also talks about how Gronk calls his partying innocent, another excerpt gives a little insight into the relationship between the superstar tight end and Bill Belichick.

“While I was watching a training camp practice in between my own exercises, Coach Belichick was standing right next to me and said, ‘Rob, you are one of the hardest workers I’ve seen, and you’re always working hard when you’re here, but when you’re not here… I don’t know about your craziness off the field, the messing.’ I started laughing and told him, ‘The fun stuff makes me grind harder, coach.’ He shook his head as he walked off and said, ‘Whatever works for you.’”

It’s Good to be Gronk will be released on July 14.
