Ricky Morton, 69, Shoots Down Idea Of One More Fight Against Ric Flair, 76
Rick Morton, 69, has responded to rumors that he may come out of retirement to fight Ric Flair in a “one last fight” match.
Flair was asked at a virtual signing event if he’d consider fighting again. Flair said he’d consider fighting Morton, but that it was likely off the table for financial reasons.
Morton released a statement on X, “As cool and exciting as it sounds, I’m going to have to pass on the idea of one more match vs. Ric Flair. Ric already had his last match, and it was an honor to be part of that show. Some moments don’t need a sequel. They need to be respected, remembered, and celebrated forever.”
Flair is currently 76 years old. He is a 16-time WWE world champion, dating back to when it was the WWF. He retired in 2022 at 72.

Part of the reason Flair retired was due to a battle with skin cancer. In 2025, he announced that he was cancer-free. He recently released an album, WOOOOO!
He’s also become known to the younger generation through other people’s music. In 2017, Offset and Metro Boomin released a song called “Ric Flair Drip.” Flair appeared in the music video for this song.
Morton, meanwhile, is still going strong=. He’s been fighting since 1977. He fought his son, Kerry, in his most recent fight in November 2025. He managed to defeat his 24-year-old son. Morton has won 79 championships over his long career.
Morton appeared on Feb. 20 at Ricky Morton’s Rock N Rumble event in Michigan.
In 2025, Flair’s daughter, wrestling star Charlotte Flair, spoke exclusively to our sister site uInterview about her return to the ring, documented on WWE unReal, and what she learned from her wrestling icon dad. “The best piece of advice my dad’s ever given me is you have to know who you are and who your character is through and through when you walk through the curtain That’s the most important thing because the fans see, right, if you don’t believe in yourself, they’re gonna eat you alive and authenticity of your character is what sells.”
