Sherman added playing against the Seahawks twice a year was “definitely a perk” to signing with San Francisco, but that he also signed with the 49ers because “they showed genuine interest” in him.
Though the 49ers finished a dreadful 6-10 in 2017, they impressed in their final five games, which they won after quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo took over the offense.
Sherman only played 10 contests in 2017 due to a torn Achilles. He will now hope to lead San Francisco to its first playoff appearance since 2013.
The Seahawks also lost another player this week in free agency. Tight end Luke Willson signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. The deal is reportedly worth $2.5 million. The Lions released tight end Eric Ebron ahead of the new NFL year.
