The Boston Red Sox will visit the Detroit Tigers on Friday night in both teams’ first game after the All-Star break, and here is what you need to know.
This will be the opener of a three-game series. The Red Sox (68-30), who own the best record in MLB, are coming off a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers (41-57) last beat the Houston Astros 6-3.

Lefty Matt Boyd will likely start for Detroit. He will probably face fellow left-hander David Price (10-6, 4.42 ERA), who has struck out 109 batters this year.
