On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins traded Rob Scuderi to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Trevor Daley. Scuderi, 36, has four assists and 32 blocked shots in 25 games with Pittsburgh this season. Overall, he has eight goals and 96 assists in 745 games over the course of 12 NHL seasons with the Penguins and the Los Angeles Kings.
Scuderi also won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009 and with Los Angeles in 2012. The Penguins lost to the Washington Capitals 4-1 on Monday night. Pittsburgh has also agreed to pay one third of the remaining value of the four-year, $13.5-million deal Scuderi signed in 2013.
The Blackhawks acquired Daley, 32, in a July trade that sent Patrick Sharp to Dallas. Daley had six assists in 29 games with the Blackhawks. “He can play well on the power play,” Pittsburgh forward David Perron said. “The more speed you have back there to jump up in the play and support the forwards and make good plays is probably going to be a really good addition for us.”
Daley made his career debut in the NHL with the Dallas Stars in 2003. Overall, he has 67 goals, 170 assists in 785 games over 12 seasons.
