Payton Manning Will Start For The Broncos In The Playoffs
Afters spending the second half of the season on the shelf with a foot injury, Peyton Manning returned to action for the Denver Broncos in week 17 and led four scoring drives in division-clinching win. And, when the team takes the field for the first time in the playoffs, Manning will remain under center.
Head coach Gary Kubiak announced Thursday morning that Manning will reclaim starting duties; he had previously discussed the decision with both Manning and Brock Osweiler, who stepped into the starting role.
After last weekend’s game, both players were asked about starting in the postseason. Manning indicated that the choice would largely be determined by his health.
“I don’t know, we’ve got two weeks before we play again,” the veteran said. “We’ll see how I feel [Monday], we’ll see how my foot feels.”

As for Osweiler, he stated that winning comes before all else, even his starting role. “As long as this football team wins games, that’s all I care about,” he said. “And that’s the truth. As long as this football team is winning games, shoot, I don’t care who’s playing quarterback.”
Denver will next be in action on Sunday, January 17 in the AFC Divisional playoffs.
