In the past two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, Paul Millsap emerged as a star player. So much so, he was just offered matching maximum offers by both the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN’s sources.

It was reported that Millsap met with the Magic at 12:01 am, aka at the start of free agency. And there, he was offered a four-year deal, worth $80 million. On the other hand, the Hawks have proposed the same maximum contract, according to ESPN’s sources. At the moment, it is unclear in which direction he will go, but a decision could come as soon as today.

Originally drafted with the 47th pick in 2006, he was underutilized in Utah. And after seven seasons with the Jazz, he signed a two-year deal with the Hawks, worth $19 million. And in Atlanta, he flourished under Mike Budenholzer’s upbeat system.

He made his first All-Star game in 2013-14 and has now gone to the event in back-to-back seasons. On top of this, he averaged 18.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 3.4 APG and his WAR, aka Wins Above Replacement, is second behind Anthony Davis at the power forward position.

So it will certainly be interesting if he leaves Atlanta, which is the only place where he has truly blossomed as a player.
