Paul Millsap And Jeff Teague Lead Atlanta Hawks To 106-100 Victory Over OKC Thunder

Just when it looked as though the Atlanta Hawks were about to lose the game, Jeff Teague led his team to victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Teague scored a total of 25 points in the game that broke the Thunder’s four-game winning streak.

Regarding Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, Teague noted, “We know he’s capable of getting really hot. We just tried to do our best to make it tough for him, make him try to make tough 2s, and at the other end just try to be aggressive.”

Westbrook got 34 points, half of which came in the fourth quarter. He also scored off a drive with 2:49 left, thus putting the Thunder ahead for the first time since the opening basket. After knocking down a jumper, Westbrook continued to put his team up by four. Paul Millsap also helped the Hawks by scoring two free throws to tie the game at 96, which was followed by a two-pointer by Teague to put Atlanta up for the rest of the game 98-96, with just 1:09 remaining.

The Hawks also made a big stop when Thabo Sefolosha intercepted a pass from Westbrook after a timeout and the Hawks’ Kent Bazemore was sent in.

Millsap racked up 26 points and 11 rebounds. Al Horford scored 21 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and closed out the game with a dunk. Kevin Durant scored 25 points  and got 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Thunder after returning from a left hamstring injury. Durant was chosen as the Western Conference player of the week. This was the Thunder’s first loss since he rejoined the team.

The Thunder will next travel to Miami on Thursday to play the Heat, while the Hawks will host the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
