Patriots’ Chandler Jones Displays Strange Behavior According To Police Report

The Boston Globe recently reported that New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones appeared to be seeking help of some sort when he walked into Foxboro’s police station on Sunday morning.

Jones reportedly entered through the police-only entrance in a hurried way, and the report claims that “It was evident that the individual was looking for help and assistance.”

The report also explains that, after entering the station, a shirtless Jones suddenly got down on his knees and placed his hands behind his head, as if he were surrendering and pleading to be arrested. Then, it appeared as if he was about to begin praying. Throughout the entire incident, he did not seem to show any signs of resistance, nor did he make any attempts to commit any sort of crime.

“It was quite evident that Mr. Jones was desperately seeking our assistance, and he had certainly not committed any crimes — nor had he violated any laws or town bylaws,” stated Officer David J. Foscaldo in the report. “It was a medical issue and it was certainly a police matter.”

After evaluation from Fire Department Paramedics, Jones was taken to the hospital for medical attention. It was later revealed that Jones suffered a severe reaction to synthetic marijuana, which is what led him to unexpectedly walk into his local police station.

According to the National Institute on Drug abuse, the man-made substance, commonly referred to as synthetic cannabinoids, are “unregulated psychoactive (mind-altering) substances that have become newly available on the market and are intended to copy the effects of illegal drugs.” These types of drugs can usually cause extreme anxiety, confusion, paranoia and hallucinations, all of which correlate with Jones’ police station behavior.

The Boston Herald detailed that the officers detected an odor of “burnt marijuana” when investigating Jones’ home. As of yet, no definitive punishment has been issued for Jones.

The Patriots will next host the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday in the NFL playoffs.
