Patrick Ewing
For one of the best rim protectors in NCAA and NBA history, it seems that Patrick Ewing did not have enough defense on his two Olympic gold medals – they have been stolen.
While making an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, Ewing said that his New York home had been broken into. “My house got broken into in New York, and at one point they stole my medals,” Ewing said. “So I called Jerry Colangelo and he was great to be able to get me two replacement medals.”
Ewing won gold as a member of the 1992 Dream Team, the first time professional athletes were allowed to compete in the Olympics. He also won gold in 1984.
The 57-year old Ewing also said that the thief took his 1984 NCAA Championship Ring he won while playing for Georgetown. “They did take my college championship ring, but someone tried to sell it on eBay and I was able to get that back.”
