The Oregon State Beavers announced on Monday that they would name assistant (cornerbacks) coach Cory Hall as interim head coach following the departure of Gary Andersen.
Most reports say Andersen and OSU mutually agreed to separate.
The Beavers are 1-5 this season, including 0-3 in the Pac-12.
“I thank Gary for his many contributions to our student-athletes, OSU Athletics and Oregon State University,” Athletic Director Scott Barnes said. “OSU football has advanced significantly in many ways during Gary’s tenure here, including in our facilities and student-athlete academic performance. This program is poised for success on and off the field.”

Andersen, a former Wisconsin coach, joined Oregon State in 2015. After compiling a 19-7 record in two seasons with the Badgers, he went 6-18 in his first two seasons with the Beavers before struggling this campaign.
The Beavers’ only victory this season came against Portland State, and the team lost each of its games by more than 20 points.
Darren Rovell of ESPN revealed how much of his salary Andersen surrendered by leaving his post:
Hall has previously spent time on the staffs at Weber State, Washington State and Wisconsin, although his last head coaching job was at Clovis North High School in California for three years.
He also played safety for six years in the NFL, having played with the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals. He had joined Andersen’s staff at Wisconsin in 2014, then followed him to OSU.
