On Sunday night, however, they turned things around. Leon Draisaitl, Anton Lander and Brandon Davidson all scored in the third period for the Oilers, leading Edmonton to a 3-1 home victory. The Oilers thus snapped a seven-game losing streak.
“It feels pretty good to get this win, especially against a team that embarrassed us the last time we played them,” said Oilers goalie Cam Talbot, who had 36 saves in his seventh consecutive start. “We had some redemption to take care of and we went out there and accomplished that tonight.”

Casey Cizikas scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who led 1-0 at the end of the second period. They had also won the last three games of a season-high seven-game road trip. With 2:17 left in the second, the puck hit Edmonton defenseman Adam Clendening up high and fell in front of Cizikas, who scored his seventh of the season.
The Islanders got a great opportunity to score halfway through the second after a scoreless first period, but Talbot came up with a big save on a shot from Josh Bailey.
Edmonton tied it up midway through the third after Lander scored his first goal of the season, which came from a shot off Jaroslav Halak.
“I wish people could be in my head and see all the things I have been trying,” Lander said. “It’s been really tough. I don’t want anyone to go through that. Your family and your friends are asking you what is wrong with you because you aren’t the same guy. It was especially hard because the team has been losing.”
Just 55 seconds later, Draisaitl got hold of a loose puck lying in the crease and scored his 16th of the season to put the Oilers up 2-0.
The Oilers (23-34-7) will next visit the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night, while the Islanders (33-30-7) will next visit the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday as well.
