Ohio States Receives 24 Letters of Intent On National Signing Day

Ohio State University started National Signing Day with a bang Wednesday with 24 letters of intent coming their way. National Signing Day allows high school players to notify schools of their choice with the intention of playing for them in the following season.

Beginning at 7 a.m, letters started piling up as Ohio State received 24 letters including four star quarterback C.J. Stroud who notified the school a little after 12:30 p.m. The school also signed two five-star recruits. Elite stand-out wide receiver Julian Fleming and a game-changing offensive tackle, Paris Johnson.

Fleming was ranked the top receiver overall, by ESPN and turned down offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Penn State. “For a while, I thought I was going to Penn State, then for a while I thought I was going to Clemson, and then I just finally settled down and figured it out. It was just the at-home feeling and their players. [Ohio State] puts their players first and all my visits there, I had countless hours with all the players, so I really got the college vibe right away.”

Head Coach Ryan Day adds Fleming to a loaded team from last year that includes three receivers that were ranked in the top 15. “This is the strongest class of receivers that he can remember. Julian Fleming is a great young man with an awesome family. His family is going to support him very well. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had an unbelievable season. Gee Scott has people always saying great things about him. He’s been loyal from the get go. Mookie Cooper couldn’t play this year, but he’s a slot receiver with great short-area quickness who is looking forward to getting back on the field,” Day told the media.

Johnson is a stud offensive lineman with grown man size at 6’6, 280 lbs and Ohio State has now signed a five year recruit every year since 2012.

The Buckeyes also recruited quarterback Jack Miller. “It was huge to get two quarterbacks in this class. The transfer portal made it paramount. The idea is to have four quarterbacks in the room and that’s not easy to do. Jack Miller has been committed all along and has been loyal throughout without wavering. CJ Stroud came on a little later. Both are excited to come in here and fight for playing time. They won’t be fighting to start next year, but they could be battling to be the backup next year and if you are the backup, anything can happen,” said Day.
