After a brief injury scare, Odell Beckham Jr. converted a short fourth-and-1 pass into a winning, 66-yard catch and run to score with 1:24 to play Sunday and help the New York Giants snap a three-game losing streak with a thrilling 27-23 home victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
The win was the 700th in franchise history. Beckham headed to the locker room with a hip pointer in the second quarter, but then returned before the half to give the Giants (3-3) a fantastic victory. The 23-year-old wide receiver’s fantastic second half included a 75-yard touchdown catch and a 43-yard reception that set up one of Josh Brown’s two field goals.
The Ravens (3-3) dropped their third straight, despite leading 10-7 at halftime.
Beckham finished with eight catches for 222 total yards. The late heroics of the often-hot-tempered wideout– who seemed much calmer on Sunday– saved New York, who were on the brink of a fourth consecutive defeat after Terrance West scored on a 2-yard run with 2:04 remaining in the fourth quarter, thus giving Baltimore a short-lived 23-20 lead.

West’s second short touchdown came three plays after Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was flagged for a highly-controversial pass interference at the Giants 8. The questionable call led angry Giants fans to become raucous and berate the officials. Rodgers-Cromartie had inside position on Breshad Perriman on a long pass from Joe Flacco, and the Ravens receiver appeared to commit offensive interference, while the Giants cornerback seemed to have nearly caught the ball for an interception.
Flacco– who went 26 of 48 for 307 yards, including a deep pass to receiver Mike Wallace, who was taken down at the 3 by Janoris Jenkins — drove Baltimore to the Giants 24 in the dying seconds thanks to yet another dubious fourth-down roughing-the-passer call. However, his final throw was knocked down in the end zone as time expired.
The Giants defense also made a huge stop shortly after Wallace’s catch in the final minute of the third quarter, as West was stopped on both third-and-goal and fourth-and-goal at the 1, the latter by Jonathan Casillas and Mark Herzlich to protect the Giants’ 17-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Eli Manning (32 of 46 for 403 yards) also a threw 24-yard touchdown pass to Roger Lewis Jr. late in the second quarter. Brown made field goals of 21 and 31 yards. Beckham foolishly earned a penalty for taking off his helmet and throwing it after scoring the game-wining TD, then getting down on one knee to propose to the kicking net.
Justin Tucker kicked field goals of 23, 39 and 35 yards in Marty Mornhinweg’s first game as Baltimore offensive coordinator, replacing the fired Marc Trestman.
“Well, our relationship is growing,” Beckham said. “I thought we might as well make it serious. I proposed and she said yes. Me and the net are going to get married sometime soon. Hopefully, it works out. I’m 23, so I don’t know much about marriage. She seems like a pretty nice gal.”
Deion Sanders of CBS Sports and the NFL Network later joked that Beckham got the kicking net pregnant.
The Giants will next face the Los Angeles Rams at London’s Twickenham Stadium on Sunday, while the Ravens will return to MetLife Stadium on Sunday to play the Jets.
