A vote on whether the NFL will allow players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics was approved at a league meeting in Minneapolis.
The resolution of Olympic flag football is just one of multiple issues that were voted on during the meeting.
Several NFL players, including Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones, have expressed interest in competing in flag football for the Olympics.
“I would absolutely love it,” Jones said. “Every other sport gets an opportunity to win a gold medal, and if you’re not serving your country in the military, I feel like that’s the other highest honor that you can represent your country in.”

If the proposal is adopted, any NFL player would be eligible to compete in the Olympics. One player per NFL team can appear on a national team, but there will be designated spots for international players to compete for their teams.
For the resolution to pass, 24 of 32 NFL owners need to vote yes.
The Olympics will take place from July 14, 2028 to July 30, 2028. NFL players likely wouldn’t miss any important dates and at the very worst, the start of training camp.
