NFL Releases 2020 Regular Season Schedule [Full Schedule]

After much anticipation, the NFL released its complete schedule for the 2020 regular season for all 32 NFL teams Thursday night.

All games this year will be played on U.S. soil, as the league canceled its five international games amid concerns regarding coronavirus. As of right now, the season is expected to start on September 10 with the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, hosting the Houston Texans, a team that they beat twice last year. Super Bowl LV is expected to be played in Tampa Bay, on February 7.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear though that there are contingency plans in place if things don’t return to somewhat normal due to the coronavirus pandemic. “In preparing for all elements of the 2020 season, including the schedule release, we have considered the unique circumstances facing us this year, and have been clear that all of our decisions will be guided by medical and public health advice and will comply with government regulations,” Goodell said. “We will be prepared to make necessary adjustments just as we have in other contexts, such as the offseason program and the draft.”

The NFL has also come out and said that any week can be moved and the season can start with any week if the schedule gets shuffled around because of the pandemic.

The league has been in talks with local, state and federal government officials according to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, to ensure that the season can go on.

In a memo sent out by the NFL on Wednesday to all 32 teams, the league is putting the foundation in place to start re-opening team facilities, with teams needing to be ready to go into ‘phase one’ as soon as May 15.
