The Lions are 2-0 so far this preseason after victories over the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets. The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots, meanwhile, have lost both their exhibition games against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home and then against the Texans in Houston.
Detroit holds a 6-2 record against New England in all-time preseason meetings.
The two teams last faced off during the 2014 regular season, when the Patriots defeated the Lions 34-9 on Nov. 23, 2014 at Gillette Stadium. Prior to the Week 3 preseason matchup, the Patriots and Lions met for a joint practice/walkthrough on Thursday (Aug. 24).
The Lions have several injured and suspended players on their roster:
On defense, defensive lineman Bruce Gaston is out with an undisclosed injury and fellow DL Cornelius Washington is questionable with a leg injury, while Armonti Bryant and Khyri Thornton (also both DL) are suspended. On offense, wide receiver T.J. Jones is questionable with a hamstring injury, while the following players are also injured: tight ends Eric Ebron (hamstring, questionable), Khari Lee, Cole Wick and Timothy Wright (all undisclosed, questionable), and running back Theo Riddick (wrist, questionable).
