NFL Players Like Eli Manning, Patrick Peterson Weigh In On Tom Brady’s Suspension
After last week’s Ted Wells report, it was only a matter of time before Roger Goodell handed down his sentence. And whether it was his way to save face or show that there is zero special treatment for the Pats, he handed down a ridiculously harsh punishment to Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champions: four-game suspension, $1 million fine and loss of two draft picks — first in 2016 and fourth in 2017.
Now my opinion on how this is the dumbest controversy in the history of sports aside, the players had a mixed reaction to this ruling. Some were happy calling the Pats cheaters, but a lot did not like the precedent that was now established.
So here are some of their initial Twitter reactions:

Eli Manning: "Tom has been a friend of mine. I don't like to see anyone get suspended …"

Tom Brady suspended 4 games…. That's just ridiculous. They are comparing it to steroid use. Preposterous! What are your thoughts?

4 games?? What a joke! Tom Brady's getting the same suspension as PED users… Crime does not match the punishment #lostmorerespectfortheNFL

I think the suspension is warranted, they came down hard on the organization though. #Deflategate

I really don't have any thoughts on it. https://t.co/xF5c0eleaU

Brady/Yee made a choice not to turn over communications. While I understand the trust issue, they had to know that would have consequences.

Yeah, Lawyer up because the nflpa won't help you. https://t.co/Ur60EtZZFT

Needless to say, players hit on both ends of the spectrum.
In the end, Brady has until Thursday to appeal, which he will likely do. So it is safe to say that this deflate-gate saga is far from over.
