New York Mets are facing an unwanted media storm yet again. In January, the Mets’ General Manager Jared Porter was fired over sexual misconduct with a reporter. At the time, Porter’s assistant, Zack Scott, a previous 17-year veteran at the Red Sox, was promoted to acting GM. Now, Scott is now on administrative leave after being arrested for drunk driving, and the general manager position is vacant once more.
Last Tuesday 4:15 a.m., hours after leaving a team fundraiser, Scott was found asleep at a traffic light. Officials at the scene determined that he was intoxicated and arrested him. He pled not guilty to the charges and will be due in court again in October.
This incident occurred with unfortunate timing for the Mets, who are away for the next five games and will be trying to improve their poor 27-40 record on the road.
