Most-Infamous Sports Mugshots: Baker Mayfield Charged With Public Intoxication & Fleeing In ’17

On February 25, 2017, NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, resisting arrest and fleeing.

Police officers responded to an assault call, and during the process, someone found the officer and was yelling at Mayfield. Mayfield was visibly intoxicated, and when he was asked to stay for a statement, he started causing a scene.

The officer instructed Mayfield to approach him, but he sprinted in the other direction, and the officer had to tackle him to put him in handcuffs.

Mayfield pleaded guilty to the public intoxication, disorderly conduct and fleeing charges. His charge for resisting arrest was dropped.

Mayfield was given $480 in fines, and he was ordered to pay $483.20 in restitution. He also had to complete 35 hours of community service, and he had to enroll in an alcohol education program.

Mayfield attended Texas Tech University before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. His career took off at Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 2017.

He entered the 2018 NFL Draft and was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns. Mayfield had a good stint in Cleveland, and he helped lead the Browns to the playoffs in 2020 for the first time since 2002.

During the 2021 season, Mayfield played with a partially torn labrum, which impacted his play. After the 2021-22 season, the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson, which prompted Mayfield to request a trade.

He was traded to the Carolina Panthers, where he struggled and was released in December 2022.

Mayfield signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023, and he’s back to performing at a high level.
