Most-Infamous Athlete Mugshots: Dennis Rodman Charged With Battering Carmen Electra In ’99

On November 5, 1999, former NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested and charged with simple battery.

Rodman was at the Bentley Hotel in Miami when people reported screaming and arguing from his hotel room. Police found Rodman with scratches on his arm and a ripped shirt, and his ex-wife, Carmen Electra, was also in the room with a cut on her lip and foot, along with multiple bruises.

Both Rodman and Electra were arrested and charged with simple battery. The charges were later dropped because neither party wanted to pursue the case, and there was insufficient evidence to further the prosecution.

During Rodman’s collegiate career, he initially attended Cooke County College before transferring to Southeastern Oklahoma State University due to academic reasons.

Despite playing at the NAIA level, Rodman was dominant, which prompted him to enter the 1986 NBA Draft, where he was selected No. 27 by the Detroit Pistons.

Rodman played 14 seasons in the NBA, where he won five championships, two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, and was an eight-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection. He was also a two-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team selection.

In the NBA, Rodman was renowned for his exceptional rebounding ability. He led the league in rebounding for seven consecutive seasons from 1992 to 1998.

Rodman retired during the 1999-2000 season to pursue other interests. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
