Eagles’ Jalen Carter To Miss Monday Clash With Chargers After Shoulder Procedure

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter will miss the team’s Monday night clash against the Los Angeles Chargers after undergoing a procedure on both shoulders, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The 24-year-old underwent the procedure on Monday, and his status will be evaluated week to week. ESPN’s sources said Carter wants to be near full health by the time the Eagles start postseason play.

It’s not the first shoulder issue Carter faced this year. In the summer, he missed the first three practice sessions of preseason camp due to a shoulder injury.

“He does have a shoulder issue,” Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said on Wednesday, discussing the team’s previous loss against the Chicago Bears. “He’s been playing with it. Late in the game, he had a great play with it, but yeah, it’s definitely something there.”

This year, Carter tallied over 30 tackles in 11 games played. He is currently playing his third year in Philadelphia after being drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Eagles remain first in the NFC East division, but their form has dipped in recent weeks. Nick Sirianni’s side is enduring a two-game losing streak and continues to struggle offensively, tallying 16 points or less in three of the last four games.

Two of Philadelphia’s remaining five matches are against division rivals, the Washington Commanders. In addition, the Eagles will also face two AFC contenders: the Buffalo Bills and the Chargers.
