MLBer Jordy Mercer Calls It A Career – At 35!

After a solid 10-year MLB career, veteran infielder Jordy Mercer has decided to hang up the spikes.

“Thank You baseball!” the 35-year-old said on Twitter. “Thank you for the opportunity and love you have given me. I hope I loved you back just as much. Thank you to the ones that have supported me, especially my family every step of way. It’s Time!! Excited for the next chapter.”

Mercer spent the majority of his time, seven years, with the Pirates—who drafted him in the third round of the 2008 draft out of Oklahoma State—before briefly playing with the Tigers, Nationals and Yankees.

Over the course of 3,104 at-bats throughout 950 games, Mercer hit .256/.315/.386 with 66 home runs and 308 RBI for a 91 OPS+.
