TMZ ran into GQ’s ‘Man of the Year’ Michael Sam and questioned him about his inability to find a team. When asked do you think coming out had anything to do with teams not picking you, he replied ” I think I was SEC Defensive Player of the Year last year. So I don’t think it had to do with talent.”
After TMZ posted the article with the headline “Michael Sam — I’m Not in the NFL Because I’m Gay,” Sam took to Twitter to do some damage control.

Sam has been cut from two teams this year, the St. Louis Rams, who drafted him with the 249 pick in the seventh round, as well as the Dallas Cowboys, who cut him from the practice squad back in October. Now, it is not surprising that the defensive end was cut from the Rams, a team with an extensive inventory of d-lineman, but why hasn’t other teams contacted the young athlete?
Now, it is important to avoid speculation about the league in general, especially since not all teams need a defensive end at the moment. At the same time, the general public is left to ponder the question, will he ever find another job? Who knows, but uSports certainly hopes so.
