MetLife Stadium To Host Copa América Centenario Final
This summer will mark the 100th anniversary of CONMEBOL, the South American Football Federation, and they’re celebrating it in a big way. There will be a special Copa America tournament, held in the United States, featuring 10 South American teams and six from CONCACAF (North and Central America).
While the schedule of play will not be revealed until tomorrow, an announcement was made on Wednesday that the final will take place at MetLife Stadium, just outside New York City. While everything will still have to fall into place, it can’t hurt to imagine the 82,000-seat stadium hosting a match-up between the likes of Brazil or Argentina and the United States.
The other host cities and venues are: Foxborough, Massachusetts (Gillette Stadium), Chicago (Soldier Field), Houston (NRG Stadium), Pasadena, California (Rose Bowl), Orlando, Florida (Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium), Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field), Phoenix/Glendale, Arizona (University of Phoenix Stadium), San Francisco Bay Area (Levi’s Stadium) and Seattle (CenturyLink Field).
