Mavericks star Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic proved on Monday night he is close to matching LeBron James in one respect: triple-doubles.
The 20-year-old Slovenian-born Dallas Mavericks small forward scored 42 points and added 11 rebounds and 12 assists in Monday’s 117-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Doncic — the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft — has now made history by becoming the second-youngest player to log a 40-point triple-double. James was also 20 years old but 163 days younger than Doncic when he recorded a 40-point triple-double in 2005.

Doncic also made history by becoming the first Mavericks player to log a 40-point triple-double. The Slovenian forward achieving such feats before his 21st birthday only further cements his status as one of the NBA’s most promising young stars.
”It feels like every day there are stats you don’t know about, stats that you read about,” Doncic said following the matchup, per NBA.com. ”It’s great to hit.”
Even LeBron had this to say about the youngster:
In the first quarter of Monday’s game alone, Doncic scored 17 points to give Dallas an early double-digit lead:
