The coronavirus pandemic has forced many MLB teams to stop paying minor league players and staff, as well as other staff members because of lost revenue from their not being a 2020 season up until this point. The Los Angeles Angels are no exception to this. Reports have since surfaced that one Angels’ star is helping out where he can.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Albert Pujols is paying about $180,000 in salary to numerous team staff members in his native Dominican Republic. These staff members were furloughed because of the pandemic.

This will cover the next five or so months in salary for staffers. The Angels’ developmental academy in the Dominican Republic saw upwards of 90% of its employees furloughed as the organization announced earlier in June that they would furlough non-playing employees in the organization.
