Lakers’ Anthony Davis Expected To Be Out For 4 Weeks

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis had his injuries reevaluated on Thursday night. Team doctors revealed the star will be out for four weeks.

Davis is expected to be reevaluated in two to three weeks after suffering a calf strain and aggravating his Achilles tendinosis in his right leg during the Lakers’ Sunday night game against the Denver Nuggets. The All-Star is unlikely to return to the team’s lineup before the league’s All-Star break on March 5-10.

Head coach Frank Vogel stated, “We want to try to put this fully behind him and be conservative with it, just to make sure that it’s fully healed before he’s back.”

The current four-week timeline is an estimate that includes the time that would be necessary for the star to rehab and recover from the calf strain and tendinosis in his right Achilles. In addition, it includes how long it will take for Davis to practice and workout to return to the team.

“He’s doing exactly what he needs to do to get himself back into the best health that he can be in,” said LeBron James. “He has an injury that he can’t mess around with too much, and as an organization, as his teammates, as me as his brother, he has our full support. So, take his time, as much as he needs.”

The Lakers are currently 1-2 without Davis on the team with them. Los Angeles has seven games until the All-Star break. When asked if he was ready for the next seven games without the forward, James said, “I’m taking it day by day. We play every other day. I don’t have the opportunity to look four weeks ahead. … I have to stay in the moment … Stay low and keep firing. I have not even thought that far down of what it looks like four weeks from now.”
