Colin Cowherd Goes On Tirade About Steelers & Ben Roethlisberger

Sports radio and TV personality Colin Cowherd went on a recent tirade against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

During Thursday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd bashed the Steelers and remarked that they are in an awful situation. The personality did not hold back but rather went on a tirade against one particular person in mind, QB Ben Roethlisberger and his awful contract.

Roethlisberger currently has a $41 million cap hit for the 2021 season. The predicament is that the team cannot escape without owing big amounts of money. If the team were to cut the quarterback, they will still have $22 million in dead money.

Cowherd had no remorse for the team because he believes the team is at fault. Cowherd went on to criticize Roethlisberger’s work ethic and bashed him for his lack of offseason preparation, poor practice habits, and the team’s simplified runs. Furthermore, the tv personality echoed the quarterback’s inability to work with high-level talent.

Cowherd gave scalding remarks about the team because of their inability to push back or address the habits of Roethlisberger. “The Steelers have sold their soul a little bit on Big Ben,” said Cowherd. The sports radio host was not done but added more saying, “They [Steelers] knew he was a crappy practice player and wasn’t committed in the offseason. They know he doesn’t put in the study time, but he was so talented that they appeased him and let him get away with it. And now, they’re trapped.”

While these remarks are scalding, they are valid points. The team has been unable to go further since the quarterback led them two Super Bowl wins and a third final Super Bowl appearance in 2010.
