Gondrezick led Benton Harbor to a win over Buchanan in a first-round Class B district playoff game. The senior guard scored 49 of her team’s 51 points after halftime, including all 23 OT points, the last of which was the game-winning basket scored with 5.7 seconds left.
The previous girls’ single-game record of 63 points in the Michigan High School Association was held by Debra Walker of Detroit Mumford. Gondrezick, who has averaged 41.5 points per game this season, has committed to the University of Michigan.
When asked whether she knew how many points she had scored, Gondrezick simply said: “Enough for us to win, that’s all that matters.”
