Kyrie Irving Will Not Return Tonight Against Oklahoma City
After injuring his knee in last year’s NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving is yet to return to action. While he’s reportedly getting closer to fitness, he definitely isn’t close enough to return on Thursday.
Yesterday, ESPN reported that a source “familiar with Irving’s plans” said he would take the court on Thursday when the Cavs host the Oklahoma City Thunder. That will not be the case, though, as the man himself nipped the rumor in the bud.
With that being said, though, the Cavs could use Irving right now. Guard Iman Shumpert injured his groin when the team visited Boston and no one knows quite how long he will be out; he only recently returned from a wrist injury and will not play Thursday night.
Whenever Irving returns, though, he will give the Cavs one of the most talented threesomes in the league. Few teams can contend with the likes of him, LeBron James and Kevin Love. As long as that trio can stay on the court, Cleveland will remain a favorite in the east.
