In probably the biggest gut check of the year, number one ranked Kentucky squeaked by Georgia in a highly contested match up. The 19-10 Georgia, who is starting to put some distance in between them and the tournament, proved to be as pesky as John Calipari thought. They used their speed to counterbalance Kentucky’s size advantage — a game plan that almost worked.
At one time, Georgia’s quickness resulted in a 17-4 run, with many believing this will be it for Kentucky’s undefeated chances: but the Wildcats battled back to overcome a nine-point deficit in the final minutes of the second half.
In the final nine minutes, Kentucky scored 25 points on nine of thirteen field goals: pushing the team to a 72-64 victory. In the same time frame, Georgia only scored eight points on three of nine field goals, even missing five free throws. And it was the big men, Aaron Harrison and Karl-Anthony Towns, who pulled this victory out for the wildcats: combining for twelve of the final 14 points.

Though it was a close game, Kentucky emerges still undefeated with their final regular season test on Saturday against the 15-15 Florida Gators. Though the Gators have nothing to lose, it should be an easy victory for Calipari, finishing up the season at 31-0.
Of course, going undefeated in the regular season is a feat in itself, but it is all about winning the tournament. They will find out who they will be facing when the NCAA has their selection process on March 15: at the moment, they are the top one-seed with Virginia, Duke and Villanova rounding out the rest of the list.
