WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch is under fire for her comments about the late rock legend, Ozzy Osbourne.
During the Monday Night Raw promo with Nikki Bella, Lynch railed against the Birmingham, England crowd multiple times, though one comment in particular set forth a wave of hate. After finally accepting Bella’s challenge, Lynch stated she would only accept it at the Clash In Paris match due to her disdain toward the champion’s current location.
“I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of her died a month ago,” Lynch said. “But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A., a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
While it is common to address and insult the local city in a promotion, many saw Lynch’s remark as going too far, including Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne. Kelly responded to the remark in an Instagram post, addressing both Lynch and WWE.

“You are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire,” Kelly wrote. “Shame on the WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”
Ozzy, also known as the “Prince of Darkness,” the frontman of legendary rock band Black Sabbath, died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76 from cardiac arrest and complications with Parkinson’s disease. The entire city of Birmingham mourned his death in the streets during a large funeral procession on July 30.
Ozzy was a common presence at WWE events since Wrestlemania 2 in 1986. As a longtime collaborator and guest, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the celebrity wing in 2021.
Given his love for his hometown and its love for him in return, Lych’s comments during the promo were in poor taste.
