Kansas Coach Bill Self Calls Out Own Player For ‘Classless’ Dunk Against Kansas State

Kansas Jayhawks Coach Bill Self ripped his own player, forward Brannen Greene, on Wednesday night following the end of the Jayhawks’ 77-59 home win against their in-state rivals, the Kansas State Wildcats, after Greene approached the basket and dunked the ball as the clock ran out.

Kansas Coach Bill Self Calls Out Own Player For ‘Classless’ Dunk Against Kansas State

Self called the move “classless” during the post-game press conference, because Kansas was up by 16 with less than 10 seconds left, and players from both teams had already begun shaking hands to signal the end of the game, yet Greene continued to play and scored the final two points for the Jayhawks.

“I’d like to apologize to the K-State team, and their program, coaches, players, for the unsportsmanlike act that one of our players did at the end of the game that was totally classless,” Self stated in the post-game conference. “I guarantee it’ll never happen again.”

Kansas’s head coach then added on his own post-game radio show: “Brannen Greene, we’ve put up with him doing some stuff in the past, but that was probably the biggest d— move I’ve ever had a player do during a game.”

This is not the first time Self has had an issue with Greene. The latter was suspended six games earlier this season for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
