Justin Herbert Suffers Finger Fracture, Will Not Play On Thursday Against The Raiders

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will not be available for the Thursday Night Football game against the Raiders after he fractured his right index finger during Sunday’s game against the Broncos. 

Herbert had to leave in the second quarter following an injury to his throwing hand. His backup, Easton Stick, finished the game and will be named the starter for Thursday’s game. 

Stick finished the game with 13 of 24 passing for 179 yards during the 24-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. 

Herbert fractured his middle finger earlier in the season in Week 4 although he didn’t miss any games because of the injury. However, Herbert’s current injury to his index finger will see him break his consecutive starting game streak with 62. Only Josh Allen has more consecutive starts with 84. 

The Chargers, who are 5-8, are third in the AFC West. Herbert’s injury could see the Chargers fall further out of AFC playoff contention.
