Jimmy Burrow Says Son, Joe Burrow, Will Be Happy As Bengal If Drafted No. 1

LSU star quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off of his record-breaking, history-making season where he led the Tigers to a national championship after an undefeated season, and tacking on a prestigious Heisman Trophy win.

The Cincinnati Bengals on the other hand are coming off a two-win season. Now looking for a signal caller, the Ohio-native Burrow seems too good to pass up.

The Bengals hold the number one pick in the draft and all eyes are on Burrow to see if he goes No. 1, as has been predicted.

Burrow’s father, Jimmy Burrow, spoke to the media about his son’s decision and feelings of his position in the draft.

“He’s excited to even be in that conversation and if the Bengals do draft him, he’s going to be happy,” Jimmy Burrow said.

“We’ve talked about it,” he continued. “I can be in my seat in three-and-a-half hours from Athens (Ohio). That’s certainly a positive. He’s excited to be in that conversation and if the Bengals do draft him, he’s going to be happy.”

Joe Burrow played high school football at Athens High before going to Ohio State for three years. He then transferred to LSU where this miracle story unfolded.

The elder Burrow is a veteran of the Canadian Football League and was a coach at Ohio University for years before retiring to watch his son’s final collegiate season.

“He’ll look at it as a challenge,” Jimmy Burrow said. “But he’ll be confident that eventually, they can win a lot of games there in Cincinnati.”
