Jeff Hardy Arrested On DUI Charges, Suspended By AEW
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has suspended Jeff Hardy indefinitely without pay following his latest arrest in Florida on Tuesday. The superstar wrestler was arrested on felony DUI charges on Monday night after police say his vehicle was” swerving all over the roadway, and “failing to maintain his lane and running off the roadway” on Monday evening. In addition to the DUI, he was arrested for driving while his license was canceled and violating a restriction where he was required to have a DUI interlock device on his vehicle. Two separate breathalyzer tests revealed BAC levels of 0.294 and 0.291 respectively. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
In a statement from AEW and CEO Tony Kahn said, “We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety.”
Hardy had previously been arrested three times due to substance abuse, two of them being DUIs in 2018 and 2019 and public intoxication in July 2019. Hardy’s recent release from WWE came after he turned down an offer of rehab from the company in late 2021.
Hardy’s older brother Matt Hardy also released a statement regarding Jeff’s arrest. “It was disheartening to hear the news about my brother yesterday,” he tweeted. “Recovery isn’t a linear process & I’ll continue doing whatever I can to help my brother be healthy. Being healthy & well is the most important thing for Jeff, his wife, his children & our family at this time,”
