Jay Feely Calls Out Tim Tebow On ‘Jim Rome On Showtime’

Jay Feely, the longtime placekicker who has played for six NFL teams in his 14 year career, was on Jim Rome on Showtime recently. And there, he decided to call Tim Tebow “the single worst quarterback I ever saw in my career in the NFL.”

Now, the comment was not baseless. The panel was talking about Chip Kelly and his offseason acquisitions. And this past weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles signed the media sensation known as Tim Tebow.

And after Jim Rome talked about his love for Kelly — because he makes his job easier by giving him something to talk about — the conversation quickly moved onto the actual signing, where Jay Feely did not hold back.

“[Tebow] is such a dichotomy for me because I really respect the person, the man, the things that he believes in and the things he does off the field,” Feely started. “[But] he was the single worst quarterback I ever saw in my career in the NFL. Like, I watched him one day. I sat and watched him do routes on air with Ken Whisenhunt as we were playing the Broncos, and routes on air — there’s no DBs, you know exactly what he’s going to run. There’s no pass rush. He had like 13 incompletions in routes on air. Like, Jim, you and I could go out and do routes on air and we’d complete most of our passes.”

He certainly had the panel laughing, but this did not please some of Tebow’s staunch supporters.

People are going to get upset when an analyst makes such a bold claim, but he certainly has the stats to back it. Tebow, in his career, completed 47.9 percentage of his passes and only garnered 6.7 yards per attempt. Yes, he also had 29 total touchdowns, but his numbers show that he is not a QB in any traditional sense of the word.

He is a media sensation that happened to win one playoff game. There is a reason why the Broncos went after Peyton Manning and no sane team has started him since.
