Jax Ulbrich Apologizes To Shedeur Sanders For ‘Inexcusable’ Prank Call During NFL Draft

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders received a prank call during the NFL draft from someone claiming to be the general manager of the New Orleans Saints.

It turns out that person is Jax Ulbrich, son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. Ulbrich posted to social media on Sunday, apologizing for his actions.

“On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake,” Ulbrich said. “Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful.”

The video of the prank call was posted on social media. Ulbrich and another person are sitting on a couch holding a phone and a notebook.

The man making the call identifies himself as Saints GM Mickey Loomis.

“We’re going to take you with our next pick here, young man,” the caller said into the phone.

“Yes sir, let’s be legendary,” Sanders replied.

The caller then quickly apologized before hanging up the phone.

Sanders, who was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, was expected to be drafted in the first round, or at the latest, the second. The prank call was made during the second day of the draft.

The Atlanta Falcons released a statement apologizing for the call and revealing how the number was leaked.

“[Jax Ulbrich] unintentionally came across the draft contact phone number for Shedeur Sanders off an open iPad while visiting his parents’ home and wrote the number down to later conduct a prank call.”
