As plenty of analysts have projected, Jameis Winston could be picked first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Though he has had plenty of off-the-field issues, many believe that he will ultimately be picked over defending Heisman winner Marcus Mariota.

And according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Winston is currently in Tampa visiting the team’s owner: “Winston, the former Florida State star, arrived in Tampa on Monday and will depart Wednesday… The meetings are largely with Buccaneers ownership, the Glazer family, and the trip is being billed as ‘Glazer-centric’ by another source. It is to see how comfortable the Buccaneers would be using the No. 1 overall pick on Winston.”

As Scheffer later points out, these types of meetings are not peculiar, it is just odd timing; there has never been a player/team visit this early in the process — with the draft just under two months away. However, the timing of the visit was just because of Winston’s schedule; do not jump to conclusions yet, as Mariota plans to visit the Bucs in about a month.

Most mock drafts have the two QBs heading out in the first ten picks of the first round. Many have Winston name at the top of the positional list. But after several off-the-field incidents, plenty wonder about his character: something vital to be concerned about after the NFL’s scandal filled 2014 season.

If I had to place money on something, I would take Winston first overall: but it is nowhere near a surefire bet.
