Jake Paul Set To Face UFC Fighter Ben Askern

Jake Paul, the famous YouTuber turned professional boxer, is prepping for his next official match.

Paul has a match set with UFC fighter Ben Askern set for April 17, 2021. The fight was confirmed by Triller co-founder Ryan Kavanaugh. The fight will be the featured main event under the Triller fight club banner. As of right now, the location of the fight has not been announced, but it will be available on pay-per-view.

The full fight card is expected to be released in the coming weeks. The fight will allow the use of 10-ounce gloves and will take place in a 20-by-20 ring.

Paul is a polarizing figure on the internet alongside his older brother Logan Paul. Jake is coming off an unexpected win over former NBA player Nate Robinson. The upset victory shocked the world. Most pundits expected Robinson to win fairly easily. Instead, it was Paul who knocked Robinson out on his way to victory.

Askern retired from the UFC in 2019 because he needed a hip replacement. He has since undergone successful surgery and is expected to be fully healthy for the fight. Askern is a former two-time NCAA wrestling champion, a two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner and a 2008 Olympian. He has won the Bellator and One welterweight championships.

“I know Jake Paul is enjoying pretending he is a fighter,” said Askern. “I think on April 17 he is going to have a rude awakening to what being a fighter is really like.”

The internet personality responded by stating, “Me, on the other hand, I started boxing two years ago and I’m still going to knock his ass out faster than Masvidal.” This remark is a jab to Askern, who suffered a five-second defeat at the hands of Jorge Masvidal.
