Jaguars Resign Foyesade Oluokun, NFL’s Leading Tackler, To Three Year, $45 Million Contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed linebacker Foyesade Oluokun to a three-year, $45 million extension, the team announced.

The deal is worth $45 million and goes up to $48 million, with $22.5 million guaranteed. Pending any unexpected changes, Oluokun will now be with the Jaguars through the 2027 season. He was entering the final year of his original three-year contract, which he signed in March 2022, but now he will do three more years in Jacksonville.

Before joining the Jaguars, Oluokun spent the first four years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons who drafted him out of Yale in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft. In 2021 and 2022, his last year with the Falcons and his first year with the Jaguars, he led the league in tackles and had the most tackles by any player from 2021-23 (549).

In his two seasons with the Jaguars, Oluokun has had 357 tackles, 19 quarterback hits and five fumble recoveries. He became the sixth player in NFL history to surpass 150 tackles in three consecutive seasons after achieving 173 tackles in 2023.

Last season, the 28-year-old started every game for the Jaguars, captaining the defense and producing an NFL-best 111 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception.

Jaguars fans will undoubtedly be happy to hear that Oluokun will be returning for at least three more seasons. His production and leadership on defense have been key in giving the Jaguars an opportunity to make the postseason during his time there. To clinch playoff positions and make a real push in the postseason, Jaguars fans will expect that some reinforcements are also signed on the offensive side of the ball.

Nevertheless, this is great news for Jaguars fans.
