Hockey player Brian McGrattan has revealed that he is ok following a fight on Tuesday between him and Daniel Maggio during a game between his team, the San Diego Gulls, and the San Antonio Rampage. The Gulls are an AHL team that is affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL.

GULLS’ BRIAN MCGRATTAN OK AFTER BEING KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS DURING FIGHT

While fighting the Rampage’s Maggio, McGrattan took a right hand to the chin and fell face-first to the ice. His teammates called for help immediately and McGrattan, 34, was stretchered off the ice. He was declared conscious and moving after the game.

Gulls head coach Dallas Eakins told McGrattan to head back to San Diego rather than join the team as they continue their road trip to Texas this week. The right winger was given a baseline concussion test and walked to an ambulance before receiving a CT scan at a local hospital. McGrattan claims he came back fine, that he remembers everything that happened, and that this fight isn’t going to change anything for him.

“It was a good shot. We were going pretty good there. There’s a couple spots on your chin, you get pegged there, you’re going down. It’s the way it is,” he said. “I’ve been doing it a long time. I’ve been a very, very good fighter for a long time. I haven’t lost a whole lot, and I’ve never really been vocal about that. I’ve been very humble about it because I know losses do come and sometimes they come like that.

“But when I lose like that, that doesn’t change anything for me. That’s not going to change the way I approach going to the rink, change how I’m going to play. It’s not going to change anything. I’m always ready for something like that to happen. That’s why maybe I’ve won so much … You’re going to lose. You’re going to lose bad some times.”
