Green Bay Packer’s Davante Adams Says He’s League’s Best Wide Receiver: ‘I Think That’s Fair To Say’

Is the Green Bay Packer’s wide receiver Davante Adams the best wide receiver in the league? The three-pro bowler certainly thinks so.

In Thursday’s post-game conference, following their week eight’s 34-17 win over the San Franciso 49ers. Adams was asked if he was the league’s best wide receiver, to which he said: “I think that’s fair to say. I think that’s not being conceited. That’s just being confident. I think, obviously, what I’ve done and what I’m going to continue to do is going to prove that to anybody who isn’t on board with that.”

During the game against the 49ers, he had recorded 10 touches while receiving a touchdown. That touchdown was his eighth this season, as he leads the league in receiving touchdowns. This season, Adams is the first player to record three games with 10 catches and 150+ yards in his team’s first eight games. The wide receiver joined Calvin Johnson as he became the second player in league history to record at least 10 catches, 150+ yards and a touchdown in a season.

Adams has only played in six games this season, as he had missed two games due to a hamstring injury. Even though the Packers lack a good offense, they are able to rely on Adams and running back Aaron Jones.

Packer’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made 53 completions and eight touchdown passes to the star wide receiver. The rest of the team’s wide receivers have a combined 41 competitions and six touchdowns.

Rodgers has nothing but praise for Adams during their win over the 49ers. “He’s tough on matchups,” Rodgers said. “He’s able to create so much space with his release pattern, and he’s got enough speed to get on top, so you can’t necessarily play low and expect certain routes. We hit him with a lot of different things tonight. Hit him on the first possession with a go ball that he made a nice adjustment on. On the last possession, we were in on an inside go route. He’s so talented. He can do it all, handles himself the right way. Just a joy to play with. A special guy.”

So far Adams has 675 receiving yards in just six games. If Adams were to keep up his impressive play, he could well be on track to finishing the season with 1,575 yards. This could become a new career-high for him. In 2018, he recorded a career-high of 1,386 yards. Last season, he finished with 997 yards while playing in just 12 games. So far, he is on pace to best his stats from last season. He is also on track to possibly being selected to his fourth pro-bowl selection.
