Green Bay Packers Committed To Aaron Rodgers Despite Split

The Green Bay Packers are not backing down from their longtime franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are committed and are confident that Rodgers will play for them next season.

The 37-year-old quarterback shocked many by expressing to teammates that he does not want to return to the Packers. The rift between the quarterback and the franchise began during the 2020 NFL Draft. The team traded up in the draft to select a quarterback, which shocked many fans along with Rodgers. Rodgers was unaware of the team’s sudden decision to draft Jordan Love. The move irritated the star quarterback because it was a blindside move.

The rift boiled over when Rodgers told teammates that he does not want to return to the team. Reports have surfaced that Green Bay’s long-time quarterback recently asked for a trade from the team. However, the team does not want to part ways with the reigning MVP. Instead, the organization hopes that they could mend the relationship with the quarterback.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst cemented the team’s decision to hold onto the disgruntled star during the draft on Thursday. The team did not select a quarterback, and Gutekunst spoke to reporters about the Rodgers situation. “We’re not going to trade Aaron Rodgers,” Gutekunst proclaimed.

Furthermore, the general manager spoke about working with Rodgers to change his mind. “We’ve been working through this for a little while now, and I just think it may take some time,” Gutekunst said. “But he’s a guy that kind of makes this thing go. He gives us the best chance to win, and we’re going to work towards that end.”

“I’m not going to speak for Aaron, but I think obviously we have a really good team, and I do think he’ll play for us again,” Gutekunst remarked. “And like I said, we’re going to work towards that and we’ve been working towards that on a number of different fronts. The value that he adds to our football is really immeasurable, you know what I mean? He brings so much to the table not only as a player but as a leader. He’s so important to his teammates, to his coaches, so yeah, that’s the goal.”
