New York Giants rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta was arrested on Tuesday after almost running over a police officer.
Weehawken, N.J., police said he was also involved in a similar incident Monday. In a press release, they said Lauletta was charged with “eluding police, a third-degree crime, obstructing the administration of law and resisting arrest.” Lauletta also was charged with “motor vehicle charges are for reckless driving, disregarding an officer’s directions, improper turn in the marked traffic lane and failure to remain in a marked lane.”
Apparently, the car already had a summons issued by mail for it due to his prior incident. Police stopped him after he tried to evade traffic again on NJ 495.

“We were made aware of the situation this morning, and we have been in contact with Kyle,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said in a statement. “We are still in the process of gathering information. This is obviously very disappointing.”
Lauletta had yet to play in a game this season. With the team at 1-7, there was speculation he might play. Currently, he’s behind both Eli Manning and Alex Tanney on the depth chart.
ESPN reported that Lauletta was not at Tuesday’s practice and players were unaware of the cause of his absence.
Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley said he was surprised by his teammate’s arrest, but added he doesn’t believe it will turn out to be a big deal.
Lauletta, 22, was the Giants’ fourth-round pick out of Richmond this year.
