Most NFL fans by now know the intricacies of the ‘Deflate-gate’ scandal that arose in 2015, after the Indianapolis Colts accused the New England Patriots of using deflated footballs during the AFC Championship game in January of that year.
Tom Brady was suspended for the first four games of this season due to his involvement in the controversy.
Now, the New York Giants have approached the league with similar accusations towards the Pittsburgh Steelers, who defeated the Giants 24-14 in Week 13. , FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported the news:

The Giants defense forced two turnovers during the loss to Pittsburgh and tested the air pressure in the balls, Glazer stated. Both balls came in at below the required psi level. The Giants then sent the balls to the NFL, according to Glazer.
New York didn’t file an official complaint, however, and the NFL said in a statement that they had found no violation:
Thus, the league is attempting to prevent a new ‘Deflate-gate 2′ hashtag from trending on social media.
Following the Patriots’ Deflate-gate controversy, the NFL began randomly testing the psi levels of footballs during the 2015 season. Nevertheless, those tests appear to be infrequent.
The Patriots argued that the low air pressure of the footballs in the AFC championship game at the center of the case was due to cold temperatures. The kickoff temperature in Pittsburgh last week was 43 degrees.
The Steelers declined to comment on the report Sunday afternoon.
The Steelers (8-5), who lead the AFC North, defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-20 on Sunday, while the Giants (9-4) defeated the Cowboys (11-2) 10-7.
Both of the Cowboys’ losses this season have come against the Giants. Dallas’ first loss was in Week 1.
The Cowboys led 7-0 at halftime, but then Eli Manning threw a short pass for a 61-yard touchdown to Odell Beckham Jr., who raced into the end zone to put New York up 10-7 after Robbie Gould scored a 39-yard field goal.
Beckham’s touchdown was set up when Giants safety Leon Hall intercepted Dak Prescott late in the third quarter.
Manning wasn’t sharp against the Cowboys — 17-of-28 passing for 193 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but he did enough to secure the win and snap their NFC East rival’s 11-game winning streak.
Prescott completed just 17 of 37 passes for 165 yards. Rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 107 yards on 24 carries for the Cowboys, who were held to just 260 yards.
Beckham was fined $12,154 on Friday for verbally abusing officials. This marked the wide receiver’s fifth fine this season.
Terrance Williams scored the Cowboys’ lone touchdown on their second drive of the first quarter.
Late Sunday, few Giants were interested in figuring out the approaching playoff possibilities.
“We have nine wins, that’s all I know — and that’s all right,” cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said. “We’re one of the top teams in the league.”
The Giants will next host the Detroit Lions on Sunday, when the Steelers visit the Cincinnati Bengals.
