Former New England Patriot Tedy Bruschi Recovering Well From Stroke

Former New England Patriots linebacker and current ESPN NFL Analyst Tedy Bruschi posted on Instagram Sunday that he is “doing much better” following a stroke that he suffered last week.

In the Instagram post, Bruschi revealed that around 10:30 a.m EST. on July 4, he lost the use of his left arm and began to slur his speech when attempting to speak. Bruschi then revealed that his wife noticed that the left side of Bruschi’s face was drooping when he turned towards her.

“We immediately knew what was happening. These are stroke warning signs. We called 911 and an ambulance got me to the hospital. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers. I’m doing much better,” he wrote.

Bruschi was rushed to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass. soon after the stroke began. Bruschi has been resting comfortably at the hospital since suffering the stroke on Friday, his family said.

Bruschi, 46, last suffered a stroke in 2005, while he was a member of the Patriots. Bruschi returned to the Patriots eight months after suffering the stroke and played the final ten weeks of the NFL season. Bruschi played 13 seasons in the NFL, all as a member of the Patriots. He retired in 2009 and joined the ESPN NFL crew soon afterward. Bruschi won three Super Bowl titles as a member of the Patriots and made the Pro Bowl once in 2004.
